General Foot Health

Many people forget that although they have spent money on getting their hair done, nails done and other general treatments, it’s the feet that get the most forgotten about until the Summer; this is when the warmer weather is coming and when we tend to pamper our feet. Out come our annual sandals, flip flops etc and expose our feet to the world. The rest of the year though, we cover our feet in socks and warm footwear and this is when damage can also occur.

Failing to take good care of our feet in the Winter, we are open to getting such dry skin especially around the heels that fissures will appear; deep sore and very painful cracks; this can then lead to problems walking and standing around and worse of all, infection.

There are various cause to problems with the skin and feet, from Athletes foot, Fungal infections, Eczema, Psoriasis and also Diabetes. Age too can cause major problems with the feet too, as the Sebum (Natural oils released by the skin) production lessens, so the skin can become stretchy and less elastic.

There are varioius causes for dry skin on the feet and heels during the cold wintery months, circulatory problems, diabetes, eczema. Pressure on the feet from standing around in cold dry weather and walking; lack of moisturising the feet, central heating in work and at home etc hot showers and baths, dehydration and also not taking sufficient Omega Fatty Acids, Zinc and Vitamin E.

If you dedicate the time once or twice a day to moisturise your feet, take essential vitaims etc maintain a balanced and healthy diet, drink lots of water to stay dehydrated, you are well on your way to having good feet throughout the Winter period and prevent sore and dry cracked skin on your feet.

Sadly through age, there comes a time that bending down to moisturise and treating feet is totally impossible, this is when booking a Registered Foot Health Practitioner to come to your home, Residential Home etc to take of your feet becomes a great benefit to you. Having your feet taken care of should you suffer from corns, callus etc this is done through a Foot Health Treatment to help bring your feet into a more comfortable and healthy condition.
